The Hobbit Musical / play Live at Avon Theatre - Ontario | Stratford
Nestled right in the heart of Ontario, the Avon Theatre is a charming slice of cinema history that’s seen some pretty memorable moments over the years. Back in 2015, it hosted a truly special tribute to The Sound of Music, celebrating the film’s 50th anniversary with a stunning live piano performance that left audiences humming long after the credits rolled. It’s one of those places where you can feel the echoes of the past, like the night in 1941 when the theater showed rare archival footage of Pearl Harbor, turning a movie night into a mini history lesson. Over the years, the Avon has also showcased unique events like a 2004 film evolution exhibit that pulled back the curtain on how movies have changed over decades. Whether you’re snagging the popular main floor seats with their unbeatable sound and view or settling into the limited view seats for a more budget-friendly experience, there’s a sense of authenticity that’s hard to find elsewhere. If you’re heading to The Hobbit Stratford or just exploring the area, finding the Avon is a breeze, just follow the signs from the train depot, turn right after the viaduct, and it’s right there, waiting to transport you to another time. For anyone who loves a bit of history, a touch of nostalgia, and a good story, this theatre is a must-visit.
